Little Giant (mouth)

Like father, like son, right? Unfortunately, I think Alex takes after me more than David. His new favorite thing to do is to be bossy and MOUTHY. I was playing with a very lively and giggly Gage yesterday when Alex comes along and says, "Mom...you need to be quiet, Baby Gage is trying to sleep!"

Now, this may not sound rude when it is all typed out, but you should hear it come out of the mouth of someone who is only 3 feet tall...it's a little shocking.

I explained that he was being rude, I'm the mom, he's the kid...etc...but he came back with the very matter of fact response, "Mom, are you not listening to me? How many times do I have to tell you? I'm 28, no...29 years old and I'm telling you that if you're not quiet, you're going to wake up Baby Gage!"

First of all, how many 3-year-olds do you know that can master a run-on sentence like that. Secondly, where does this kid get these crazy ideas? Projection? Maybe. Quoting his Dad? Well, yes, there's no doubt about that.

Aunt Again

Hooray! Baby Finnegan was born! I love being an aunt. We went down to Dallas last weekend to see the new little bundle of joy. The trip was not super-fantastic since we had to make it there & back in one day, but of course it was worth it to see our new little nephew.

We were a little busy wrangling our own two kiddos, so I didn't get very many pictures. This is the best picture I have to share - the proud uncle and Mr. Finn. He is a little cutie. I expected him to look like Alex and Gage, but he looks just like his Daddy, Jonathan. He is a chubby little thing for a newborn and has lots of hair.

Supply and Demand

When supply is high, demand is low; when supply is low, demand is high. I learned this idea over and over in college in my Principles of Economics or Macroeconomics class or whatever it was called. It was the most boring class EVER, and if I'd managed to stay awake or stop flirting long enough, I may not have missed it if the professor explained that this principle applied to bribery and potty training. Maybe he never made that connection, but maybe he did and I just missed it.

So, people have been asking me, "How's potty training going?".

When Daddy has a supply of brand new dinosaurs he's holding onto, Alex can manage to do ANYTHING and EVERYTHING potty training related that Daddy demands to get a "sharptooth" (Land Before Time reference). However, when Alex already has been supplied with the stash of dinosaurs, he doesn't feel it necessary to use the potty at any cost, no matter how much we demand it.

On the up-side, isn't he cute sleeping with his dinosaurs? He just couldn't part with the dinosaurs that first night.
